Cambridge - one city, five zip codes

Cambridge, MA is one of the most desirable cities in the Greater Boston area but it isn’t homogeneous at all. In fact, Cambridge consists of 5 zip codes, with 4 that are truly residential. When buyers ask their real estate agents about where to look for a home in Cambridge, there is a real divide between East Cambridge (02140 and 02141) including Kendall and Porter Squares and West Cambridge (02138 and 02139) including Harvard and Central Squares. East Cambridge is more urban and densely populated with easier access to public transportation and Boston while West Cambridge, with the leafy areas around Harvard and Huron Village boasting a more suburban lifestyle. Condo prices in 2022 so far (as shown below) tend to be higher on the West side of Cambridge with the average per square foot topping $925 while the East averages around $890. In both areas plan on spending at or above $1 million for the standard 2 bed/2 bed condo.
